Baptism

Come as you are and Jesus will transform your life!

What is Baptism?

We are so excited that you’re interested in learning more about baptism!
Surrendering your life to Jesus and being baptized is the most important decision you will ever make.
Below are answers to some frequently asked questions regarding baptism. If you have any further questions or are ready to be baptized, please contact us through the contact form or by email at ccc@claytonchristian.org.

Why Should I Be Baptized?
The Bible teaches that we are saved by grace through faith (Ephesians 2:8-9). Baptism is an integral part of responding in faith to Christ and the Gospel. Following our understanding of Scripture, we practice baptism by immersion. The Greek word used throughout the New Testament for baptism is “baptizo,” which means to plunge, dip, or immerse. Jesus modeled this form of baptism and commanded it, making baptism an act of obedience and faith (Matthew 3:13-17, 28:18-20). Baptism by immersion represents the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus, symbolizing our old self dying, being buried in the water, and raised as a new creation in Christ Jesus.

Who Should Be Baptized?
Everyone who is willing to repent of their sins and confess their belief in Christ should be baptized (Matthew 28:19; Acts 2:38-39). Belief in Christ is defined by understanding who Jesus is, what he did on the cross, and why he rose from the grave. All the merit which makes a person right with God is the merit of Jesus Christ and his gospel (his death, burial, resurrection, and exaltation as King).

When Should I Be Baptized?
Anyone who has professed faith in Jesus Christ should be baptized immediately or as soon as it can be arranged. There are nine conversions recorded in the New Testament. Every conversion is closely accompanied by baptism. At CCC, we believe that the best way to fulfill God’s purposes for the church is to follow the example laid down in the New Testament. Following the resurrection of Christ, there is no salvation account in the New Testament that did not include baptism. Baptism is the time in which we pledge our allegiance to King Jesus and his gospel (1 Peter 3:21).

Can Anyone Come With Me?
Yes! Invite your friends and family, as this is a wonderful opportunity for them to witness the difference that Jesus has made in your life.

Who Will Baptize Me?
One of our ministers on staff can baptize you, or if there is someone in your life who has previously been baptized by full immersion, you are more than welcome to have them baptize you.
